When would I need Invisalign?

Invisalign clear aligners treat the same misalignment problems as metal braces. But instead of having brackets bonded to your teeth and attached with metal wires, you wear comfortable, invisible plastic trays that easily fit over your upper and lower teeth.

You can use Invisalign to repair problems such as:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite (your upper front teeth overlap the lower teeth)
  • Underbite (your lower front teeth overlap the upper teeth)
  • Crossbite (some upper teeth go behind your lower teeth instead of in front of them)
  • Open bite (upper and lower teeth don’t meet when you close your mouth)

If you or your child have any of these problems, schedule an appointment at Llanos Dental Group to learn how Invisalign can restore your smile.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

While being invisible is the top benefit for most people, that’s not the only reason to choose Invisalign. Other Invisalign advantages include:

  • Comfortable plastic
  • No eating restrictions
  • Predictable and precise results
  • Faster results (most people finish Invisalign treatment within six months)
  • Easy dental care (remove the aligners to brush and floss)

Invisalign makes customized aligners for teens and adults. They also offer clear aligners for children aged six to 10 with emerging dental problems like crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches.

How does Invisalign work?

After completing a dental exam to identify your dental issues, Dr. Llanos takes a 3D image of your teeth. She uploads the scan, and Invisalign’s proprietary software maps a plan showing how each tooth must move to achieve your perfect smile.

Experts at the Invisalign lab then produce a series of aligners that snap over your upper and lower teeth. You wear one set of aligners for one or two weeks, then trade those for the next pair in your aligner series. You continue this process until you wear all the trays in the series.

Each new pair gently moves your teeth to the next position. If you wear your aligner for at least 20-22 hours daily (removing them only to eat, brush, and floss), you’ll stay on track and have your new smile by the time you finish the last aligner in your series.
